Background

As part of the student's project, each one of us were assigned different artists from around the world. We had to study about the artists, their design style and try to follow that style to create our self-portraits. The artist I got was Willian Santiago. He was a professor, illustrator, and graphic designer from Brazil. He is well-known worldwide for his works that feature vibrant colours and digital reproductions of brushstrokes and natural textures. He has illustrated several books, both domestically and internationally, as well as magazines and commercials for well-known companies.

Challenge

Willian found inspirations from his surroundings, nature and his culture. His artistic style mainly revolved around using vibrant colors, textures and geometric shapes. I tried incorporating some of these styles to experiment with my portrait. Willian's work is truly inspiring that tells its own story.
